All Home Inspections Are Not Alike
Individuals requesting a home inspection are usually either a seller or a potential purchaser. Each of these has a reason for obtaining the results of a home inspection. But in the final analysis, each is seeking to determine the true condition of the structure. However, the result of this pursuit can be obscured by the selection of the home inspector, since all home inspections are not alike. Far from it!
InspectRite inspectors conduct an item-by-item examination of the structure from the roof to the basement or crawl space, inspecting more than 110 components or systems of the home.
Many individuals calling themselves “home inspectors” conduct a walk-through, detecting only the most obvious defects at best. Many are “Johnnies Come Lately” who have no construction experience whatsoever. Alarming home inspection stories abound. One local inspector failed to discover that the heat pump compressor was missing, another pronounced no defects in a home where in two months the purchaser was required to hire an electrician to correct obvious electrical defects that the inspector had overlooked. In both instances, there was no excuse for the home inspector missing such glaring defects. One can only speculate how many other defects or hazards were overlooked.
In each of these cases, the home owner is exposed to expensive improvements because the home inspector was simply looking around rather than inspecting the property. In another instance, a home inspector asked the pest exterminator if there was anything in the crawl space that he should know about. This inspector never entered or inspected the crawl space and finished the total house inspection within 15 minutes.
InspectRite inspections routinely encompass 3-5 hours of extensive examination of each component of the house. Nothing is ever taken for granted. InspectRite inspectors are certified by the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, tested under national standards and fully insured. Our inspectors subscribe to a rigid Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. A rigorous continuing education program is required. More importantly, our inspectors know construction with more than 40 years construction experience and hold various State licenses in construction disciplines.
